Poetry Challenge #7 Tanka

A Japanese poem consisting of five lines, the first and third of which have five syllables and the other seven, making 31 syllables in all and giving a complete picture of an event or mood.

Here are my attempts at tankas:

Fake Smile

She smiles, it is fake,
a tyranny of falsehood,
eyes still like a lake,
she wants but I will not give,
her heart is forever hid

Cruel World
My fell eye abides,
that which her heavens derides,
single tear is spared,
my soul, I cannot leave bared,
world is unkind, she confides.
